Community Leadership
Each year the Refugee and Migrant Forum Manchester runs a Community Leadership Training Programme for refugees and asylum seekers who are committed to working together to achieve change in their communities.
The first Community Leadership programme was run by Community Pride Initiative and MRSN in January 2005 and led to the launch of the Refugee Charter for Manchester. Since the launch of the Charter the Forum has gone from strength to strength, tackling priority concerns such as reporting and detention at Dallas Court Reporting Centre and access to free ESOL classes.
The current programme has 18 refugee leaders enrolled and will run until March 2010. A new programme will begin in April 2010.
