Fundraise while gaming

We love the creative fundraiser ideas that our supporters come up with!! We definitely love this one where people all over the UK can get involved.

Huge thanks to Fae Mira and Zoë Sams who organise Gaming Against the Hostile Environment fundraising events. In October 2020 they raised £2732 for 3 charities across the UK supporting refugees and asylum seekers!

This year, the fundraiser will run on the 20th June 2021, during Refugee Week! A corporate sponsor has also signed up to match any funds raised. All funds raised will be split between the following 4 charities:

What is the hostile environment?

The UK government’s ‘Hostile Environment’ is a range policies which make it even harder for people within the asylum system to survive, strive and lead dignified, healthy lives. Asylum seekers are exposed to insecurity, re-traumatisation, social isolation, deterioration of mental health, poverty and destitution.

Organisations supporting refugees and asylum seekers have seen the dramatic effect of the inhumane and broken-by-design system clearly in a number of especially horrific and preventable incidents over the last few months.

Many individuals, communities and organisations fight tirelessly to curb these effects of the Hostile Environment every day and The Gaming Against the Hostile Environment series wants to support some of these groups by raising urgently needed funds.
