The Shared Routes project is to promote empowerment of refugees/immigrants and their communities as well as to provide interaction and cohesion between local communities. The project is funded by the Big Lottery Fund for 4 years. (2019-22)
Shared Routes is a community project that helps to develop skills of community members/organisations who want to engage in volunteering or community work.
We will offer a training programme for people who would like to volunteer, a peer navigator programme. We are looking for people who are interested in gaining new skills and becoming active on an individual or organisational level.
Since starting this project we have now successfully run 4 training cycles each year to people from refugee and migrant backgrounds and have helped secure them volunteering positions when possible.
Our next course starts on 9th June 2021, and runs 2.5 hour sessions once a week for 6 weeks. Details of the schedule are below. Following this, we will work with applicants to try and secure them voluntary positions, providing COVID guidelines allow this. We have limited places for the course so please register as soon as you can.
