Refugee Week 2022: Refugee World Cup

This year, Refugee Week will be taking place from the 20th-26th June 2022. For the first time in 3 years we are able to celebrate this week in person and after such a difficult few years, it feels so important to do so.

All refugee communities and local teams from across Greater Manchester are welcome. The tournament is 8-a-side and teams can register a maximum of 10 players. All teams must register before Wednesday 15th June 2022 to guarantee their place in the tournament. It is very important that you arrive on time as teams who arrive after 10:00 will not be allowed to participate.

This year the Refugee World Cup will pay tribute to Anthony Kollie to remember his contribution to the Refugee World Cup and his love and passion for the tournament. Anthony put so much of his time and effort into making the tournament a great success before he sadly passed away from COVID 19. We send our condolences to his family and hope this event will honor his memory.

A trophy and medals in Anthony’s memory will be awarded to the winning team of the tournament.

The tournament has been organised by Manchester Refugee Support Network in partnership with Manchester FA, Red Cross, Salford City Council and Manchester City Council.

Please see the tournament rules here.
